David Gordon, Executive Director

David Gordon is a third-generation Kern County native who grew up south of Bakersfield, California.  He attended Lakeside School in the middle of the local cotton fields and reservoirs before graduating from Bakersfield High School. David earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Arts and Design from San Diego State University and a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Science with a concentration in Painting from North Carolina State University.  

David is a landscape painter and has had numerous successful painting exhibitions.

David was the Assistant Director of the Bakersfield Museum of Art for twelve years before being selected as the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Kern.  Among his many duties, David produces the annual Kern County Plein Air Painting Festival, one of the arts community’s most prominent local events. In addition to his role as a leader in the non-profit arts world, David has been designing residential and public landscapes throughout California for twenty years.

David is a permanent and popular figure in the public art scene in Bakersfield. He has appeared as a regular guest on a variety of radio programs and has co-hosted membership drives for Valley Public Broadcasting.

Jeff Lemucchi, Office Manager & Artwalk Coordinator

 

 For over 40 years, Jeff Lemucchi has been effectively telling stories behind the microphone and in front of the camera. 

Jeff grew up in Taft, California and began his foray into the Arts by learning to play the trumpet at age ten.  He was awarded a music scholarship to Cal State LA but decided to attend college at Fresno State.  During his first year at CSUF,  Jeff landed a weekend job at a radio station.  Since then, he’s never looked back. 

Jeff developed his broadcasting chops as a DJ, program director, operations manager, and news director at several stations along the West Coast and landed in his defining role in 1980 as a news reporter and anchor on a television station in Medford, Oregon.  Jeff’s been known as the news guy on both radio and TV since those early days when he worked with Ann Curry at KTVL-TV.

Jeff is an accomplished voice actor and has performed countless projects for radio and television and numerous other applications. 

Jeff came to the Arts Council of Kern in 2016 and enjoys his role as office manager and Artwalk coordinator.

Jeff lives in Bakersfield with his wife Jan, their cat Gomez and their two Boxers Gino and Pete.
