Alex Gallardo
MURALIST / VISUAL ARTIST
Alex G is an accomplished visual artists and muralist with over 20 years of hands-on painting experience. He brings more than nine years of Arts in Corrections visual arts/mural making teaching experience within CDCR institutions. Alex has created numerous hand-painted murals at local eateries and public spaces throughout California and Kern County. Additionally, he serves as the project manager for the Arts in Corrections program with the Arts Council of Kern, demonstrating his dedication to both his craft and community enrichment.
Cheri Sperl
PAINTING
As an oil and acrylic artist, my work focuses on capturing subtle expressions, gestures, and quiet moments of stillness that tell a story without words. Through the use of light, color, and layered brushwork, I strive to create paintings that feel intimate, contemplative, and timeless. After retiring from a career in health care, I returned to my lifelong connection with art and further developed my portfolio through study with respected contemporary painters Colley Whisson, Kelly Folsom, and Jennifer Gennari. Their guidance strengthened my technical foundation while encouraging the development of my own artistic voice. Living in Kern County for more than four decades has also shaped my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the quiet beauty found in everyday life. My work has been recognized through multiple awards including Best of Show in the Latination in 2018 and 2026 exhibits, as well as honors in the FASO BoldBrush and Daily Paintworks Art Competitions.
