The Arts Council of Kern Art Walk is an ode to the artists of Kern County. Gathering together in the spirit of creative camaraderie on the first Friday of every month, Art Walk provides a space for artists to share and sell their art with the world!
Highlighting the vibrant creativity of downtown Bakersfield, the First Friday Art Walk showcases artists, poets, galleries, and vendors throughout the city. Visit new exhibitions and attend special events and readings put on for the occasion as you mingle with creators and old friends. The event is free to attend and open to the public. Exhibitions change every month, so mark your calendars now!
All Vendors will be required to have an Art Walk Vendor’s Permit for each First Friday Art Walk obtained from The Arts Council of Kern. Permits and Vendor location assignments will be available on a first come first serve basis. Vendors must apply for their First Friday Art Walk Vendor Permit and meet specific requirements (See permit application requirements below) prior to receiving their permit and designated location.
The Arts Council of Kern has acquired all Bakersfield City permits and paid all City fees for Art Walk Vendors. Vendors can purchase a one-time permit, 6-month permit, or a 12-month permit. Upon purchase, vendors can select and lock in their participation for the duration of their selected permit.
Permits are for a 5’x10’ sidewalk space and will be determined by current availability. Restroom if needed must be provided by vendor: However, permit costs include licensed security officer(s) on site, and / or at the event.
