Front Entrance Kern County Museum, 3801 Chester Ave., Bakersfield, CA
Bakersfield, CA – May 4, 2023, After several months of planning, the Arts Council. of Kern has scheduled a press conference announcing the kickstart of a community-wide mural project titled Intersections, A Community Mural Project. The collaboration is funded by California Clean Act and Caltrans and carried out in partnership with the Arts Council of Kern with input from the City of Bakersfield and the County of Kern.
The project’s first phase engages residents by inviting them to share their preferences in a community survey. Under the leadership of ACK, a team of local artists will compile this input and take it into thoughtful consideration as they plan the next steps. The goal of the collaboration is to beautify our community and incorporate art at specific intersections. The project’s second phase will include a community town hall, artist and artwork selection, and art installation. This project will conclude with beautiful murals on some of our busiest intersections by the summer of 2024.
The Survey
Locate the survey on the ACK website, https://kernarts.org/intersections, in both English and Spanish.
