Kern County Plein Air Painting Festival- POSTPONED

Various beautiful & scenic locations all throughout Kern County

Fifteen of the best artists from the western US are invited to observe
and paint our beloved Kern County outside in the elements.

While these artists paint all week, we host three special events for YOU to celebrate their work, including a picnic with artists working on site, a gallery show / artist meet & greet, and a Gala in the Betty Younger Sculpture Garden. For more information about the event, click here.

Stories on the Sidewalk

February 8 & 9, 2020     11:00am – 3:00pm

Tickets are just $10.

Straight from the mouths of those who were there, Stories on the Sidewalk is a fun, educational walk through history, where colorful characters from Kern County’s past come alive on the streets of Bakersfield. 

Eleven stops in downtown Bakersfield will feature actors portraying some of Kern’s most famous and infamous residents, such as Colonel Thomas Baker, General Edward Beale, Dr. Rose Bercham, Chops Lawrence and Aurelio Hererra. These exciting stories of Kern’s rich history, told in riveting, locally written dramatic presentations and performed by local actors, will be right on the streets of Bakersfield.
